What Is a Forklift Crane Arm?
A forklift crane arm is a steel-framed attachment that mounts onto the forks or carriage of a forklift truck. It features a horizontal or telescopic boom with lifting hooks or attachment points, allowing the forklift to lift loads from above rather than from underneath.

Crane arms are available in two primary configurations:

Fixed-length designs – Suitable for standard, repetitive lifting tasks

Telescopic designs – Feature extendable booms that provide variable reach, typically adjustable in multiple stages

Some models also offer height adjustment capabilities, allowing the boom to be angled upward — often in increments up to 45 degrees — to lift loads over obstacles or position them at different heights.

Extended Reach
A crane arm significantly extends the reach of a forklift. Telescopic models can extend the forklift’s reach by 2,000 mm to 3,700 mm or more. This allows operators to access loads that are otherwise out of reach.

Multiple Lifting Positions
Many crane arms offer multiple hook positions along the boom length. Depending on the model, operators can choose from several lifting centres to accommodate different load sizes and weights. The lifting capacity decreases as the hook moves further from the forklift — a factor that operators must consider when planning lifts.

Secure Attachment
Crane arms are typically mounted via fork sleeves that slide onto the forks, secured with locking pins to prevent accidental detachment. Some models mount directly onto the forklift carriage for added stability.

Rotatable Swivel Hooks
Most crane arms are equipped with swivel hooks that rotate 360 degrees, making it easier to work with lifting gear such as chains, slings, or lifting beams.

Durable Construction
These attachments are built from heavy-section steel tubes, fully welded and bolted for structural integrity. They are available with painted or galvanized finishes for both indoor and outdoor use.
